About Our Community
The JCRS (Jewish Children's Regional Service) is a child welfare organization dedicated to the well-being of Jewish children and youth throughout seven Southern states. Our needs-based scholarship programs include undergraduate college aid, summer camp subsidies to Jewish sleepaway camps, and Special Needs funding for the care, treatment and educational support of Jewish children with special needs. Our outreach programs provide recognition and services to grandparents raising grandchildren, single dads, handicapped children, and parents of troubled adults. We send Chanukah gift bags each year to over 200 children in difficult circumstances, and we are a sponsor of The PJ Library in seven states. We serve Jewish families in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas.
The JCRS is the nation’s only regional Jewish child welfare organization and the oldest existing Jewish child welfare agency in the U.S.
