About Our Community
The PJ Library Program® of Silicon Valley was established in December, 2008. We seek to assist young Jewish families in discovering PJ Library’s gift of quality Jewish children’s books. We see PJ Library as a meaningful and pleasurable way of developing a positive Jewish identity and connection to our local Jewish community.
Based in Santa Clara County, our program covers a broad geographical area, one that is home to a much larger Jewish community than is reflected in its organized synagogue and social service organizations. We reach out to Israeli families, interfaith families, families that are actively Jewishly affiliated, and families exploring connection to our local Jewish community.
We hope to make this journey one of joy, positive learning, relationship building, and inclusiveness for all our families.

The Jim Joseph Foundation (JJF) of San Francisco
JJF, established in 2006, is committed to a sustained program of grant making in pursuit of a vision that leads to ever-increasing numbers of young Jews engaged in ongoing Jewish learning and choosing to live vibrant Jewish lives.
At the end of 2008, JJF chose to fund The PJ Library Program® in the Bay Area in a significant way by promoting collaborative action on the part of three Federations ― in San Francisco, in the East Bay, and in our own community of Silicon Valley. With the Foundation’s help, The PJ Library Program® of Silicon Valley has developed a vibrant program of outreach to and ingathering of the diverse and scattered Jewish families who live in the nine communities we currently serve.
The Jewish Federation of Silicon Valley
The PJ Library® Program in Silicon Valley is presented under the auspices of the Jewish Federation of Silicon Valley. The mission of the Jewish Federation of Silicon Valley is to raise and to allocate funds needed to maintain and strengthen Jewish identity, Jewish community and Jewish life. We work toward developing leadership and meeting the needs and concerns of the Jewish community locally, in the United States, in Israel and throughout the Diaspora.
In fulfilling its purposes and programs, the Federation embodies a primary commitment to Klal Yisrael (the responsibility of each Jew for another), to Tikkun Olam (the process of repairing the world, and to the centrality of Israel to the Jewish people.
Constituent Partners
The PJ Library Program® of Silicon Valley is grateful for the support and involvement of many institutions in our community who share with us the desire to engage Jewish families positively in Jewish life. Since the inception of our program, we have enjoyed enthusiastic input of our “Constituent Partners” in planning collaborative programs, reaching out to the young families within their organizations, and partnering with leaders and members of these organizations. They have been advisors and hosts for specific programs. It is from these synagogues and agencies that many of our Steering Committee members have come. We appreciate their insights and initiative.

The PJ Library Program® of Silicon Valley welcomes Jewish children ages 6 months to 7 years living in the Santa Clara County communities of Campbell, Cupertino, Gilroy, Los Gatos, Milpitas, Morgan Hill, San Martin, San José, Santa Clara, and Saratoga.
If you live in any of these communities and have children of these ages, please be encouraged to contact us for further information about our programs and purpose. We will be happy to welcome you into our growing “family”!
