JDAIM Events Round-up 2

Throughout February, PJ Library programs and partners honored Jewish Disability Awareness and Inclusion Month. In Part 1 of our JDAIM Events Round-up we shared photos and stories from three communities' special events and projects. This week we’re back with Part 2 of our JDAIM PJ Library events coverage. Let’s see how three more PJ Library used The Mitten String to create fun and engaging JDAIM programs:

PJ Library in Western Massachusetts cosponsored a program with the Lander Grinspoon Academy in Northampton, MA. Author Jennifer Rosner read The Mitten String book while her daughter, Juliet, showed eager attendees the illustrated pages. Afterwards, the children decorated mittens with yarn.

PJ Library in Greater Washington held a workshop with Bethesda Jewish Congregation where children learned about American Sign Language (ASL), communication, inclusion, learning from everyone and respecting others' strengths. At the end of the day the children made friendship bracelets as reminders of the lessons. Thank you Sarah Rabin Spira for the photos.

PJ Library in Richmond and families had a blast at their JDAIM event. Kids of all ages got together to enjoy the special programming that PJ Library developed with the Jewish Special Education International Consortium to support JDAIM and the JDAIM Reads program. Thank you Sara Rosenbaum for the photos.

Jewish Advocates for Deaf Education (JADE) also held a special ASL story-time event that featured our selection The Mitten String). Visit JADE on Facebook to learn more about their upcoming story events.
