About this Community

THE COMMUNITY SERVED by the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey encompasses Camden, Burlington, and Gloucester Counties, with a combined Jewish population estimated at 50,000. The community has two full-time Jewish day schools (one associated with the conservative movement--Solomon Schechter-affiliated--and one with the orthodox movement) and 17 synagogues.

The Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey oversees and coordinates the activities of a local network of five major social service agencies/departments, including the Katz Jewish Community Center, Samost Jewish Family & Children's Service, Jewish Community Relations Council, and Jewish Federation Publications and Department of Jewish Education. In addition, Federation is affiliated with the Jewish Community Foundation Inc., a planned giving and endowment agency, and Jewish Senior Housing and Healthcare Services, which operates a continuing care retirement community and three low-to-moderate-income apartment houses under Jewish auspices. The Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey also supports two major overseas partners: the Jewish Agency for Israel and the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee.
